Protesters Rally Against Decision to Raise Pride Flags at L.A. County Facilities

LANCASTER, CA, June 10 (KNN) – Organizers from the Lancaster and Palmdale Freedom Coalitions along with local churches rallied together in protest Saturday morning over Los Angeles County’s decision to raise the LGBTQ Pride flag at various county facilities including Los Angeles County Fire Stations.

A firefighter who decided to lower the pride flag has received disciplinary action from the department, said one of the organizers of Saturday’s protest.

Key News Network interviewed Pastor Robert Enos on camera, who strongly feels the only two flags flying should be the American flag and the state flag. “Any other flag in my opinion, is a violation because it doesn’t represent all of us,” he said.

Enos says flying the flag on one’s property is the right of anyone living in America because you have freedom to do that, but what government officials do not have is the freedom to force it on us.

“One flag, one people,” said Enos as he held up an American flag.

Key News Network also interviewed Steve Hill, candidate for the 27th congressional district in the state of California, who attended the protest to have a line of communication. He feels it’s a cultural issue the power structure uses to divide the people.

Hill also feels we should all come together and fight against our common enemy which is the poverty level in the community, the over-incarceration of certain ethnic groups and the serious homeless problem. “There’s a lot of issues that we all agree upon … 80% of the people agree that we have too much homelessness here in the AV (Antelope Valley).”

“So we should come together, unite our forces and do something about that instead of protesting someone’s sexual orientation,”Hill said.

The flag is supposed to stay in place on county facility flagpoles until sometime later this month.
