Santa Fe Springs California Highway Patrol was in pursuit of a silver SUV just before 2:30 a.m. that was allegedly involved in a catalytic converter theft. The suspect led units on a chase on the northbound 5 Freeway, then traveled 40 to 50 mph throughout different locations, ending up in Burbank.

East Los Angeles CHP took over and attempted to use spike strips to render the vehicle inoperable.

CHP was successful on the second spike attempt and also used the PIT maneuver on the SUV at the 5 northbound at Hollywood Way.

The suspect refused to exit the SUV. CHP ended up breaking a window and pulled the suspect out of the vehicle and into custody.
