Los Angeles, CA: A Downtown Los Angeles Metro bus and scooter collided trapping the rider under the bus at the intersection of 7th Street and Maple on Saturday evening, May 21, 2022.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to an entrapment rescue around 6:40 p.m. at the location and found a man trapped under the bus as a result of a 2-vehicle collision.

LAFD Heavy Rescue teams were dispatched to extricate the patient from under the bus. LAFD personnel were able to free the patient without the need for additional resources.

Los Angeles Police Department reported that the individual was conscious and breathing, and was transported to a nearby hospital. There is no further information regarding the patient’s condition at this time.

Witnesses on scene stated privately that the collision took place in the intersection and the metro bus appeared to drag the patient an additional 50-100 feet before coming to a stop.

LAPD Central and Metro supervisors were on the scene investigating the circumstances of the accident.
