Shooting Leaves 1 Wounded at Street Takeover in South Los Angeles

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, July 22 (KNN) — A victim was wounded in a shooting that occurred at a street takeover early Saturday morning.

Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Division officers responded to a reported shooting shortly before 2 a.m. at the intersection of San Pedro Street and Manchester Avenue in the Broadway-Manchester neighborhood within South Los Angeles.

The 20-year-old male victim and male Hispanic suspect were both spectators at a street takeover and both were seated in their vehicles. For unknown reasons, the suspect exited his vehicle, fired multiple rounds at the victim, and then went back inside his vehicle and fled the location, according to Officer Drake Madison with LAPD Media Relations.

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the incident and was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital in stable condition, reported Madison. It is not known if the incident is gang related.

A Dodge Challenger was located at the scene by officers who observed and marked bullet casings on the ground near the car.

Officers were observed speaking with several people at the scene.
