JURUPA VALLEY, Calif., May 15 (KNN) — A search is underway for an armed suspect who fired shots at a Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy Tuesday evening in Jurupa Valley.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident occurred around 7 p.m. in the area of Pats Ranch Road and 68th Street. They emphasized that the incident was not a deputy-involved shooting and the deputy was not injured.
Special Enforcement Bureau personnel and deputies were seen heavily armed alongside tactical vehicles as they searched for the suspect who “attempted homicide on a Peace Officer.”
As of late Wednesday afternoon, there were no further updates from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office regarding the suspect.
KNN has learned from Sgt. Deirdre Vickers, Public Information Officer with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Media Information Bureau, that the incident began with an attempted traffic stop where the driver failed to yield.
“The deputy pursued the vehicle and was shot at by the driver. The deputy was not injured and the suspect was not located,” Vickers stated in an email to KNN.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau has assumed the investigation and apprehension efforts will continue until the suspect is located, according to Vickers.
