Single-Vehicle Fiery Crash Damages Property in Bakersfield; Driver Hospitalized

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., June 6 (KNN) — A single-vehicle crash involving fire overnight left the driver injured and residential property damaged in the city of Bakersfield.

Officers with the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a vehicle on fire with a person possibly trapped around 1:15 a.m. in the 600 block of Casa Loma Drive.

Upon arrival, they located the driver outside the vehicle who appeared to be possibly heavily intoxicated and suffering from moderate to major injuries.

The patient was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Severe damage to a fence, a cinder block wall as well as plants and possibly a tree were observed at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
