Sinkhole Forms After Water Main Break in Palisades Wildfire Burn Area

PACIFIC PALISADES, LOS ANGELES, Feb. 12 (KNN) — A significant water main break caused a large sinkhole in the Pacific Palisades burn area early Wednesday morning.

A Los Angeles Police Department unit patrolling the Palisades Fire burn area around 1:30 a.m. reported a large water main break at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Las Casas Avenue and requested the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power to respond.

A short time later, the same patrol unit reported that a sinkhole had formed due to the water main break.

LADWP personnel arrived at the scene and worked to shut off the flow.

The extent of damage to the roadway is unknown at this time.
