Solo Vehicle Crash Into Building Leaves 2 Trapped With Injuries

RIVERSIDE, CA, Oct. 17 (KNN) — Two people were left trapped and injured inside a wrecked vehicle after slamming into a building early Monday morning.

The single-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 5 a.m. at Van Buren Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue in the city of Riverside.

Firefighters were dispatched to a reported traffic collision with a vehicle into a building at the location.

Upon arrival, firefighters located one vehicle with major damage with two occupants trapped inside.
Firefighters quickly went to work extricating the victims. It took firefighters approximately 20 minutes to free them both from the vehicle.

The two patients were transported to a local area hospital in unknown conditions.

It is not known at this time what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, but high speed is suspected in the crash.

The vehicle struck the curb, continued across the sidewalk and slammed into a sushi restaurant.
One wall of the restaurant was knocked out and the parking sign was left hanging and damaged.

Magnolia Boulevard was expected to remain closed for a few hours in the westbound direction at Van Buren Boulevard while the scene of the crash was investigated.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
