Solo Vehicle Crash Into Railroad Crossing Gate Injures Driver, Shuts Down Rail Traffic

LINCOLN HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22 (KNN) — A driver was injured early Friday morning in a traffic collision involving a railroad crossing gate that affected Union Station rail traffic.

A Los Angeles Police Department Hollenbeck Division patrol unit rolled up on a solo vehicle shortly before 2 a.m. that had crashed into a railroad crossing gate mechanism in the 1700 block of North Main Street in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Officers reported the solo male occupant was suffering from a head wound.

The Los Angeles Fire Department transported the patient in unknown condition to a local hospital.

Main Street was shut down in both directions for the collision investigation as well as rail traffic in and out of Union Station to the north for an unknown duration.
