Man Dies Following Brutal Stabbing in Bakersfield; Suspect Arrested

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., Jan. 2 (KNN) — The Bakersfield Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect in the brutal, fatal stabbing of a man in Bakersfield late Wednesday night.

The Bakersfield PD responded to the scene of a stabbing in the 500 block of East 18th Street around 11:05 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from major injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, according to the Bakersfield PD.

Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

At approximately noon on Thursday, detectives with the Robbery/Homicide Detail, with the assistance of patrol officers and the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT), arrested 59-year-old Kenneth Landcraft for this murder, reported the Bakersfield PD in a press release. There are no outstanding suspects.

The Kern County Coroner’s office has not yet released the identity of the victim.
