The incident unfolded shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, on Armstrong Circle near Stevenson Ranch Parkway in the Stevenson Ranch community when the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station received a 911 call from a person stating they had shot their father and pistol whipped their girlfriend before tying them both up. The caller also stated they had a gun while on the phone with the 911 operator.
Units from the Santa Clarita Valley station responded en masse to the report before deploying tactical gear and assault rifles at the location.
Deputies determined the circumstances stated in the 911 call were untrue and interviewed members of the family.
The family stated their son was playing video games at the time. It is believed the family’s IP address was hacked to trace their location and a 911 call was placed remotely.
The incident remains under investigation.
