PICO RIVERA, Calif., Aug. 5 (KNN) — A pursuit of a stolen vehicle ended in a crash that landed the vehicle against a building in the city of Pico Rivera shortly after 12:30 a.m. Monday morning.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies from the East Los Angeles station were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle eastbound Washington Boulevard at Greenwood Avenue in the city of Commerce.
Deputies lost visual of the vehicle due to high-speed eastbound Washington Boulevard at Rosecrans Boulevard in the city of Pico Rivera.
A deputy located a vehicle up against a building at East Washington Boulevard and Bequette Avenue and noticed it was the suspect vehicle that they were pursuing. The suspect driver was temporarily trapped inside the vehicle.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the location and successfully freed the driver. The alleged suspect was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.
A passenger fled the scene northbound from the crash. The LASD had set up a perimeter to search for the passenger, but later canceled.
Sheriff’s deputies did locate a backpack with ammunition inside, but no firearm.
It is unknown at this time if there was any damage to the building due to the crash.
