Structure Fire Spreads to Nearby Homes in Winnetka

WINNETKA, LOS ANGELES, Oct. 21 (KNN)—A house under construction erupted into flames early Monday morning in Winnetka, spreading to nearby homes.

A structure fire was reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. in the 7900 block of North Laramie Avenue.

Responding Los Angeles Fire Department crews found a two-story, single-family house under construction fully involved in flames. The fire also spread to two exposed buildings, and residents who lived next door were evacuated. 

A neighbor down the street from the fire spoke on camera to KNN and said he initially heard screams. At first, he thought it was a party but discovered a house under construction was on fire, which spread to nearby homes. 

According to the LAFD, firefighters fought flames in all three buildings and achieved knockdown in 46 minutes with no injuries reported. 

Regarding the two exposed buildings, LAFD reported that one sustained fire damage in the attic and the other on the second floor.

The cause of the fire is unknown. There are no further details.
