Suspect Shoots at Deputies, Barricades in Home; Nearby Residents Evacuated

Valinda, Los Angeles County, CA: Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Industry deputies were fired upon from a residence on the 16900 block of Wing Lane in the Valinda area of Los Angeles County Friday, Mar. 10, just before 2:30 p.m. prompting an evacuation of the area.

LASD stated that Industry Station deputies initially responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. When deputies arrived, the suspect began shooting and a deputy-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect barricaded inside the home at the location and continued to shoot at deputies.

At the time of the released information regarding the incident from LASD just before 5:00 p.m., no one had been hit by gunfire.

LASD SWAT responded to the scene and the Special Enforcement Bureau assumed tactical command of the incident.

One female was transported to a local hospital with head injuries, however, her injuries were not related to gunfire according to LASD.

Around 3:30 p.m., deputies and SWAT evacuated residents south of the barricaded shooting suspect. They were going house to house taking families, including children, out of the area on Dunsview Avenue and Wing Lane near the suspect’s house.

“The Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) is on scene and is attempting to contact the suspect to resolve this situation peacefully,” stated LASD.

The suspect was still in a standoff with authorities as of late Saturday night.
