Suspect Shot During Attempt to Rob Bank ATM

SANTA CLARITA, CA, July 22 (KNN) — A man attempting to rob another man servicing a Santa Clarita bank ATM was possibly shot in the head, according to witnesses.

The incident took place shortly after 6 p.m. at the Chase Bank on the 26900 block of Sierra Highway, south of Via Princessa between the city’s Canyon Country and Newhall neighborhoods.

The security guard working with the serviceman attempted to stop the robber and the two struggled over a gun. That is when two shots were fired and the suspect was ultimately wounded, according to the employees.

Sheriff’s deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Station rushed to the scene and took the suspect into custody and requested immediate medical assistance.

The suspect was rushed to a trauma center.

The incident remains under investigation.
