Suspect Sought Along With ‘Person of Interest’ in Bar Shooting of 4 Victims in Downey

DOWNEY, CA, Sept. 24 (KNN) — Four people were wounded in a shooting while at a bar and grill in the city of Downey early Saturday morning, Sept. 23, and police now have a suspect description.

The Downey Police Department has photos and descriptions of the suspect and a “person of interest” after the initial investigation into the shooting at Mambo Grill in the 11000 block of Downey Avenue.

The incident occurred shortly after 1 a.m. when officers responded to a shots fired call at the location. When officers arrived, they found four victims all suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Downey PD.

The Downey Fire Department also responded to the scene, treated the victims, and transported all four to a local hospital.

Officers investigating the incident were told by witnesses that the unknown suspect and his female companion had been escorted out of the bar earlier in the evening “due to unruly behavior.”

After leaving the location, the suspect returned a few minutes later driving southbound on Downey Avenue in a dark colored SUV, according to the Downey PD. The suspect then discharged an unknown firearm in the direction of the bar from inside the vehicle, before speeding away southbound and out of sight.

The Downey PD reported all four victims are hospitalized in critical, but stable condition as of late Saturday afternoon.

During the course of the investigation, the male subject was identified as the suspect that discharged the firearm. His female companion is considered a “person of interest” at this time,” the press release states.

The male suspect is described as Hispanic, with a light complexion and a light beard, 5 to 6-feet tall, 25-35 years old and weighing approximately 160 to 195 lbs. He was last seen wearing a gray or white t-shirt with dark jeans, a white and purple “Colorado Rockies” baseball cap, a gold chain and white and gray “Nike Air Jordan 1” sneakers.

The male suspect’s companion and “person of interest” is described as a female Hispanic with black hair, 5′ to 5’6″ tall, 115 to 150 lbs. and 25-35 years old. She was last seen wearing a black long sleeve top, black pants and black high heels.
