WHITTIER, Calif., Jan. 16 (KNN) — A stolen vehicle suspect rammed multiple Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department patrol vehicles while trying to evade authorities during a pursuit in Whittier late Monday night.
The LASD’s Industry Station deputies were behind a reported stolen vehicle near Gale Avenue and Hacienda Boulevard. Sheriff’s deputies attempted a traffic stop of the vehicle, but the suspect fled from deputies and a pursuit ensued around 11:20 p.m.
Sheriff’s deputies were able to successfully employ spike strips to slow the vehicle down. The vehicle was driving on two flat tires when it entered the westbound 60 Freeway at Seventh Street.
Deputies also PIT maneuvered the vehicle multiple times on the westbound 60 Freeway just before the Crossroads Parkway exit. They attempted to block the vehicle in on the westbound 60, but the suspect rammed multiple sheriff’s patrol units and was able to continue westbound on the freeway.
PIT maneuvers continued to be used on the vehicle, but the suspect was able to regain control and continued westbound on the 60 Freeway to the southbound 605 Freeway.
Sheriff’s deputies attempted another PIT on the southbound 605 Freeway just past Peck Road, and were able to box the vehicle in and take the suspect into custody. No deputies or the suspect were injured during the pursuit.
