BAKERSFIELD, Calif., July 27 (KNN) — A 17-year-old female driver was taken into custody for suspected DUI following an injury traffic collision in the city of Bakersfield late Thursday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP reported that the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Initial CHP reports indicated at least one person suffered major injuries from the collision.
A gray Toyota Camry and black Ram pickup truck collided on Norris Road, just west of Crestwood Street.
A DUI breath test kit was seen on top of a CHP cruiser at the scene and used to test the driver of the Toyota. She was ultimately arrested.
Officer Romero with CHP’s Bakersfield Office told KNN on Friday that three passengers, in addition to the the teen female driver, were inside the Toyota at the time of the crash.
Details regarding the driver of the Ram truck and possible passengers were not immediately available. There was no further information regarding injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
