COVINA, Calif., Apr. 22 (KNN) — An SUV erupted into flames on the 10 Freeway overnight in the city of Covina.
The California Highway Patrol and West Covina Fire Department received multiple 911 calls shortly before 12:30 a.m. Monday regarding a vehicle fire on the eastbound 10 Freeway at the Barranca Street exit.
Once CHP and firefighters arrived at the scene, they located an SUV with fire consuming the engine compartment. The driver of the vehicle was able to make it out safely.
CHP shut down the off-ramp at Barranca Street to through traffic as firefighters quickly extinguished the flames.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
