SUV Explodes in Van Nuys Parking Lot

VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES, May 24 (KNN) — One person was injured after a vehicle exploded in a parking lot in Van Nuys Thursday night.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department and police officers responded to a vehicle explosion around 10:30 p.m. in the 7200 block of Van Nuys Boulevard.

Arriving firefighters and officers found a Toyota 4Runner blown apart with pieces of the vehicle found as far as 200 feet away. One person was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

KNN video from the scene shows multiple cans of butane just outside of what was left of the vehicle.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the cause of the explosion. This report will be updated if additional information is released by authorities.
