Canyon Country, Santa Clarita, CA: A teen in a Tesla intentionally rammed a sheriff’s department patrol vehicle at Canyon High School and was quickly apprehended by another patrol unit in Canyon Country after a short pursuit, according to authorities. The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2022.

The deputy in the rammed vehicle is ok, according to Deputy Sheriff Garrett Rifkin of Los Angeles County, interviewed at the scene by Key News Network.
The female teen driver is under the age of 18, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“We’re going with assault with a deadly weapon on a deputy sheriff because he was intentionally rammed with a vehicle,”said Rifkin.
Deputies were observed confiscating a can of alcohol and marijuana from inside the vehicle, however, DUI has not been determined to be a factor at this time, according to the sheriff’s station.
The collision is under investigation.
