CANOGA PARK, LOS ANGELES, May 4 (KNN) — A teenager was found with a gunshot wound after a reported shooting at the Lanark Park Recreation Center in Canoga Park late Friday night.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a call regarding a shooting around 10:30 p.m. in the 21000 block of Lanark Street.
Upon arrival, officers located a male teenager who was shot in the hip by an unknown suspect in the skate park area of the recreation center.
According to initial information from the LAPD at the scene, the suspect approached the 17-year-old male, words were exchanged and then the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim. The suspect subsequently fled the scene.
KNN interviewed a man at the scene, self-identified as Bobby, who said that he heard one shot, then two more, about five minutes after arriving at the park. The sound of gunfire sent him running, he told KNN. “I was like, scared for my life.”
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in unknown condition.
