The Los Angeles County Fire Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a traffic collision involving an on-duty Lancaster sheriff’s deputy at the intersection of Avenue J and 10th Street West in Lancaster.

The collision occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. when a male Hispanic driver in a Chevy Camaro collided with a deputy in a marked patrol unit.

Before the deputy could exit the vehicle, the male driving the Camaro fled on foot southbound on 10th Street West and out of sight.

The passenger of the Camaro was still on scene and suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention from fire department paramedics.

The passenger of the vehicle told a sergeant from the Lancaster station that the driver was intoxicated, and was possibly the reason why he ran away.

The deputy suffered minor bruises and was not transported to the hospital.

No further details are available.
