Shortly after midnight, the Los Angeles Fire Department and police officers responded to a reported traffic collision involving two vehicles in the 17300 block of West Sherman Way.

When units arrived at the scene, they found one female trapped in the passenger seat of her car. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the victim.

The extricated female, clearly in pain, was transported by LAFD paramedics to a local hospital. Her condition was not immediately known.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash, declined transport to a hospital but was seen consenting to a field sobriety test.

A few other vehicles at the scene appeared to have been damaged as a result of the collision.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division is investigating the cause of the crash.
