Multiple 911 calls were received shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday evening regarding a fire that ignited along CA Highway 330, just north of the City Creek Fire Station.

Arriving units from San Bernardino County Fire and Forestry located smoke and fire in medium to heavy fuels with a rapid rate of spread pushing up a small canyon toward the highway. At one point, it did jump the highway, however, firefighters were able to douse the flames before it could continue into the mountain.

Firefighters quickly contained the blaze with the assistance of water dropping helicopters and a plane dropping fire retardant.

By 6:34 p.m., forward progress had been stopped. The cause of this blaze is unknown at this time. No structures were threatened during the incident.
