SOUTH LOS ANGELES, May 18 (KNN) — A driver was found unresponsive early Friday morning after a vehicle was located partially up on a curb, with the front end against a tree in the Vermont-Slauson neighborhood within South Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Fire Department and Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Division patrol units responded to a solo vehicle into a tree around 12:21 a.m. on Florence Avenue just east of Budlong Avenue.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they located one occupant inside a vehicle unresponsive. The vehicle did not appear to have significant crash damage.
Many LAPD officers were observed at the scene as LAFD paramedics attempted to save the driver’s life. Ultimately, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The LAPD is considering that the driver may have possibly suffered a medical event, but no official cause of death has been determined at this time as the investigation is still ongoing.
LAPD’s South Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
