POMONA, Calif., June 9 (KNN) — Suspects found to be in possession of a BB gun are in custody after allegedly shooting at a vehicle traveling eastbound on the 10 Freeway late Saturday night and leaving the driver injured.
The California Highway Patrol received a 911 call from a victim who claimed to have been shot in the neck on the eastbound 10 Freeway, just west of the 605 Freeway in the El Monte area.
The injured victim continued to follow the suspect vehicle eastbound on the 10 Freeway into the city of Pomona and was able to exit the freeway at Fairplex Drive and Murchison Avenue.
A CHP sergeant stopped with the victim and immediately rendered aid. The victim’s neck was bleeding due to the shattered window from the shooting. There was a female passenger and a dog inside the victim’s car as well.
Only the driver was injured in the incident. The victim was assessed by fire department personnel but was not transported.
CHP officers managed to locate the suspect vehicle and took a male and a female into custody on the westbound 10 Freeway at the Via Verde Street exit in the city of San Dimas. Officers also located a black BB gun inside the vehicle.
CHP officers from the East Los Angeles Area Office were at the scene and taking over the investigation since the shooting occurred in the East Los Angeles area.
