Lancaster, Los Angeles County, CA: A vegetation fire erupted late afternoon Sunday in the Antelope Valley that was quickly fueled by high winds in the area.
The fire was reported around 1:42 p.m., June 4, in the area of Avenue D and 130th Street in Lancaster.
Over 1,000 acres thus far have been consumed by flames. The fire was progressing in an easterly direction.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that they have deployed a firefighting helicopter to aid the Los Angeles County Fire Department in their efforts to contain the blaze.
Just before 9 p.m., LACoFD reported that fire crews have 90% containment on 1,300 acre brush fire. Crews will continue through the night.
One barn was destroyed and Avenue D was closed to replace burned power poles, according to the fire department. No injuries were reported.
