Chatsworth, Los Angeles, CA: The Los Angeles Fire Department reported on Sunday, May 15, as many as two acres of grass were burning around 3:28 p.m. south of the 118 Freeway approaching heavy vegetation fanned by 10 to 15 mph wind from the south.
The location of the fire is on the 11200 block of Porter Ranch Drive in Chatsworth. LAFD and allied agency resources are expected to remain at the scene through Sunday night, according to LAFD.
LAFD stated at 5:30 p.m. that “while the fire’s (area of) origin has been localized to ‘at or near’ a freeway adjacent homeless encampment, the specific cause of the wildfire has yet to be determined by investigators.”
