Woman Struck, Killed in Hit-and-Run Collision in Los Angeles

FLORENCE, LOS ANGELES, July 19 (KNN) — A woman was fatally struck by a vehicle that fled the scene overnight in the Florence area of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel and the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Division patrol units responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision at approximately midnight on Central Avenue at 82nd Street.

A female pedestrian in the roadway was struck by a dark colored SUV with a male Hispanic driver that fled the scene, said Sgt. Kevin Ahlemeir with LAPD’s South Traffic Division on camera at the scene.

The female was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was possibly a homeless woman approximately 40 years old, according to Ahlemeir.

Ahlemeir said there are some witnesses, and officers are canvassing the area looking for security camera footage.
