Wrong-Way Driver Killed in Head-On Collision on 210 Freeway in Monrovia

MONROVIA, Calif., Dec. 29 (KNN) – A wrong-way driving incident on the westbound 210 Freeway early Sunday morning resulted in a fatal head-on collision, authorities said.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) Altadena Area officers and Baldwin Park Police Department received multiple reports of a white sedan traveling east in the westbound lanes. CHP officers located the vehicle near Rosemead Boulevard, where it continued to drive the wrong way.

Shortly after, officers came upon a head-on collision involving the white sedan and a Ford pickup truck near Huntington Drive. Emergency personnel from the Arcadia Fire Department were requested to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters pronounced the male driver of the white sedan deceased.

The two occupants of the Ford pickup truck sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals by the Arcadia Fire Department. According to CHP officers at the scene, the victims are expected to recover.

All westbound lanes of the 210 Freeway were closed just east of Huntington Drive.
