Wrong Way SUV on 710 Freeway Causes Serious Traffic Collision, Multiple Injuries

Compton, Los Angeles County, CA: Multiple people were injured, two reported trapped in a traffic collision involving a vehicle traveling the wrong way on the 710 Freeway early Saturday morning.

The California Highway Patrol South Los Angeles Station received multiple 911 calls around 2:15 a.m., Nov. 12, of a black SUV traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the 710 Freeway near Imperial Highway in the city of South Gate.

CHP received an additional 911 call at 2:16 a.m. for a traffic collision northbound 710 Freeway at Alondra Boulevard involving three vehicles with two people trapped.

Compton Fire Department along with CHP arrived on scene and located a total of three vehicles including the wrong-way SUV.

Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to cut the door off the SUV to extract the driver.

Multiple victims were transported to a local hospital including the wrong-way driver.

CHP had all northbound lanes on the 710 Freeway closed at Alondra Boulevard. A SigAlert had been issued for an unknown amount of time.
