Valencia, Los Angeles County, CA: A vehicle crashed off the roadway leaving one person deceased at the scene around 1:55 a.m., Sunday, Apr. 10, near the 5 Freeway just south of the Valencia Boulevard off-ramp.

California Highway Patrol Officer Enriquez with the Newhall area office interviewed at the scene by Key News Network, said officers responded to the scene of a reported fire in the area of the Northbound 5 Freeway just south of Valencia and located a vehicle that had caught fire. Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the flames.

Enriquez said there was one driver in the vehicle who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identification of the deceased has not been confirmed and is under investigation.

Based on preliminary investigation, it was determined the vehicle was traveling on the Northbound 5, traveled off of the roadway toward the right shoulder embankment where it rolled over, struck a tree and caught fire, according to Enriquez.

No further information is available at this time pending investigation.
