Los Angeles, CA: One person was injured, a dog is dead after a collision with fire on the 5 Freeway early Monday morning.
Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to reports of a traffic collision on the South 5 Freeway transition to the 170 Freeway just after midnight on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022.
When units arrived on the scene, they found one car fully engulfed in flames. After the victim of the traffic collision was transported to the hospital by LAFD paramedics, there was a small dog that was left at the location.

Photographers at the scene brought the dog to East Valley Animal Shelter where the dog sadly passed away. Los Angeles Animal Services confirmed the dog died ten minutes after arriving at the shelter. The deceased dog will remain at the shelter until claimed by the owner, according to LA Animal Services.
California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy also responded to the scene.
