11-Year-Old Killed in Wrong-Way Driver Collision on 60 Freeway

Hacienda Heights, Los Angeles County, CA: A wrong-way driver involved in a traffic collision early Wednesday morning on the 60 Freeway left an 11-year-old-girl dead at the scene.

California Highway Patrol received multiple calls for a traffic collision on the westbound 60 Freeway, just before the 605 transition, involving a jackknifed semi.

CHP then received additional calls regarding a driver allegedly involved in that first collision, traveling eastbound in westbound lanes on the 60 Freeway. Additional 911 calls around 4:00 a.m. Mar. 22, were received of a major traffic collision involving a wrong-way driver just before Crossroads Parkway.

The 11-year-old victim of the crash was a passenger in a vehicle traveling westbound on the freeway when the collision occurred with the wrong-way driver.

The child succumbed to her injuries after attempts were made to save her life. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by firefighters and paramedics.

The driver of the wrong-way vehicle reportedly fled the scene of the crash on foot in an unknown direction and is currently sought by authorities.
