Bakersfield, Kern County, CA: A fire displaced a total of 16 people including children in the city of Bakersfield early Friday morning.

The fire started in a back house in the 1600 block of Palm Drive around 2:23 a.m. Apr. 15, 2022. It then spread to a house in the 1900 block of Flower Street.

All occupants were out of the buildings and fire crews were able to contain the fire to the attic on Flower Street. The back house on Palm Avenue was a complete loss.

Bakersfield City Fire and Kern County Fire Departments battled the fire. Hall Ambulance was on standby. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.

A total of 16 people were displaced including nine children. The local Red Cross responded to assist the families.
