Pomona, Los Angeles County, CA: Two people lost their lives in a violent hit-and-run traffic collision Sunday night where a driver involved was seen fleeing the scene by a witness.
The traffic collision occurred around 8:45 p.m., May 28, on the 2800 block of North Garey Avenue, north of Bonita Avenue in the city of Pomona.
Once officers and firefighters arrived on scene, they located two vehicles with major damage.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene and transported an injured female passenger, around 50-60 years old, to a nearby hospital in critical condition, reported Pomona PD. The driver and front passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene by fire department personnel and reported to be one adult female and one adult male, according to Pomona PD.
Witness Bill Ryczek told Key News Network at the scene, that he and his wife heard the horrific accident. He then jumped over a wall and saw “everything in disarray, and upside down.” He said he was first on scene and everything was “chaotic.”
Meanwhile, Ryczek noticed another man go back to his car, grab a backpack or duffle bag and run away from the scene. Ryczek said he chased him down to the local apartments where he entered, then came back out and Ryczek lost him down Garey Avenue where the police were trying to find him.
Pomona PD had one possible suspect detained on West Arrow Highway just east of Garey Avenue about a mile and a half away from the crash scene.
As of early Monday morning, May 29, the suspect is still outstanding.
