Suspect Arrested in Connection With Double Fatal Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision

Pomona, Los Angeles County, CA: The Pomona Police Department announced on Monday afternoon the arrest of the suspect allegedly involved in a hit-and-run fatal traffic collision that killed two people and hospitalized a passenger on Sunday.

Pomona PD identified the suspect as Erik Elias Perez, an 18-year-old resident of Pomona.

Perez was booked and charged with vehicular manslaughter, grand theft auto and a hit-and-run resulting in death, reported the Pomona PD.

Pomona PD received a call of an injury hit-and-run traffic collision around 8:45 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2023, on Garey Avenue, north of Bonita Avenue, where arriving officers located an overturned SUV with three occupants trapped inside the vehicle, according to the department.

A surviving female passenger in critical condition was transported by Los Angeles County Fire Department to a nearby hospital. The front passenger and driver were pronounced deceased at the scene by fire department personnel, according to Pomona PD.
