
Jasper County, MO: A serious collision involving two trucks on 1-44 and County Road 100 westbound between Sarcoxie and Carthage in Jasper County prompted a large response from first responders shortly after 9:00 p.m. Friday, Apr. 22, 2022.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, two trucks were involved in a collision when a tractor trailer struck a 2015 Ram truck causing the truck to run off the road and overturn, and the tractor trailer to run off the roadway striking a guardrail and a bridge overpass.

The driver and occupant of the tractor trailer were both trapped and extricated by firefighters.
Robert A. Jones, driver, and Robert D. Bettis, identified by MSHP as occupants of the tractor trailer were transported by ambulance with serious injuries to Mercy Hospital in Joplin. Lisa Dawn McCabe, identified by MSHP as the driver of the Ram truck, was also transported with serious injuries to the same hospital.

Multiple responders at the scene included Carthage Fire, Sarcoxie Fire, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Mets Ambulance, Mercy Ambulance, Missouri State Highway Patrol, MoDot Emergency Response among others.
M&M Wrecker of Carthage assisted with the removal of the wreckage and also used its boomer on one of their heavy trucks to hold the semi in place due to the incline.
No other details are available at this time. The cause of the collision is under investigation by MSHP.
