California Highway Patrol Altadena Station officers took over a pursuit from city police that entered onto the eastbound 210 Freeway in the Pasadena area at approximately 1 a.m.

The suspect was wanted for assault on officers and vehicle violations.

The pursuit continued into San Bernardino County. Rancho Cucamonga CHP units took over the pursuit and were able to deploy spike strips that flattened the passenger side tire of the suspect’s vehicle.

The pursuit continued for three hours on multiple freeways and city streets until the suspect crashed his vehicle on a dead-end street at East Olive Street and North Solano Avenue in the city of Ontario.

A CHP K-9 was deployed but accidentally bit a CHP officer.

A CHP air unit saw the suspect run from the car armed with a gun and jump into the riverbed. The suspect then barricaded to the rear of a house on North Hacienda Drive and East Alondra Street in the city of Ontario.

Ontario Police Department officers were on scene assisting CHP. The suspect continued to hide behind a house.

Ontario PD had their SWAT vehicle move into the location. The mother of the suspect and family members arrived at the scene.

CHP and Ontario officers made callouts to the suspect to come out and surrender. Per CHP information at the scene, the suspect is a third striker and told officers that he’s not going back to jail.

An additional SWAT vehicle from Ontario PD responded to the scene to assist CHP.

Per CHP information gathered at the scene, officers cleared the backyard of the house and did not locate the suspect but noticed a screen off one of the windows of a home. It was unknown if the suspect made entry inside one of the residences. The incident was in its 6th hour at this point from when the pursuit started.

After about seven hours of barricade, the suspect was finally taken into custody by Ontario SWAT officers.

CHP officers did recover a gun magazine in the riverbed.

A Key News Network video journalist spoke to the homeowner who declined to speak on camera, but he did say no one was home at the time of the incident.
