Female Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Amtrak Train

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES, Sept. 1 (KNN) — A female pedestrian, approximately 50 years old, was struck and killed by southbound Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train #794, just east of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, Friday night, according to initial information.

The San Diego bound passenger train came to an emergency stop at approximately 9:38 p.m. in the area of the 12000 block of Sherman Road and remained just east of the location for an unknown duration.

The train crew and approximately 116 passengers were uninjured, and remained on board pending the the release of the train by the Los Angeles Police Department’s investigators.

There are no further details at this time.
