Big Rig Jackknifes on I-5 Freeway During Rainy Morning in Sun Valley

SUN VALLEY, LOS ANGELES, Dec. 19 (KNN) — A full-size tractor trailer jackknifed early Tuesday morning on the northbound I-5 Freeway just south of Branford Street in the Sun Valley area of Los Angeles.

The California Highway Patrol was already at the scene handling an earlier collision involving a small overturned box truck when the second crash occurred around 3:19 a.m. involving a big rig.

Lanes 3 and 4 continued to be closed from the earlier collision while crews worked to clear the crash from the freeway.

Wet road conditions may have been a factor in the cause of the crash. The CHP had issued a SigAlert for the area, with a potential hard closure.
