The incident occurred shortly before 1:45 a.m. Saturday when a 911 caller reported two men using an electric saw near 16th Street and Newhall Avenue — an area already plagued by catalytic converter thefts and automobile burglaries.

The informant reported the men getting away in a large U-Haul box truck.

Deputies, already in the area, saw the box truck and followed it into a residential area and initiated a traffic stop at the end of a cul-de-sac on the 23300 block of Tristin Drive.

The men were taken into custody at gunpoint.

Among their possessions — drugs, electric saws, stolen scooters, merchandise and a Grinch mask.

Sgt. Joana Warren with the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station said that some evidence found in the truck could possibly have been used in crimes. Detectives and deputies will work together to see if any of the items match other crimes that have happened in the area.

Deputies are continuing their investigation.
