New Year’s Eve Shooting in Santa Clarita Leaves 1 Dead

SANAT CLARITA, Calif., Dec. 31 (KNN) — A person was shot and killed in a Santa Clarita neighborhood early New Year’s Eve.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to Vista Fairways Drive, north of Trevino Drive in Valencia shortly after 4:30 a.m. to a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered an unresponsive person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound inside a Toyota RAV4 SUV, according to authorities.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded and treated the victim then subsequently transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased, said Lt. Art Spencer with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.

Homicide detectives are on scene continuing their investigation as of 11:15 a.m. Spencer said there is no suspect information at this time.
