Sylmar, Los Angeles, CA: A SigAlert was issued at 6:14 a.m. Thursday, Apr. 27, by California Highway Patrol due to an overturned big rig on its side on the 5 Freeway southbound lane (truck route) just north of Balboa Boulevard in the Sylmar area of the San Fernando Valley.

Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene at 5:55 a.m., but the driver declined medical attention. Traffic was backed up for miles due to the incident.

The Southbound 14 Freeway truck route portion was shut down as well. According to CHP, the big rig was loaded.
