PHOENIX, Ariz., Mar. 17 (KNN) — Phoenix police officers and fire department crews responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of a business plaza near 27th Avenue and Thomas Road around 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

Officers arrived to find over 100 people fleeing from the area after several shots were fired during a late-night gathering in the parking lot.
Preliminary information suggests one person was shot and transported to a local trauma center by a bystander prior to the arrival of emergency crews.
Officers quickly secured the scene and cordoned off a large portion of the parking lot. Over a dozen shell casings were found scattered throughout the lot.
Officers and detectives were expected to remain at the scene throughout the morning to investigate the incident.
