Vehicle Crashes into Closed Freeway Construction Area, Driver Hospitalized

Lake View Terrace, Los Angeles, CA: A vehicle crashed into CalTrans equipment in a closed construction area on the Westbound I-210 Freeway near the Foothill/Osborne on-ramp in the Lake View Terrace neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley.

The collision was reported at approximately 1:59 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2022. The 210 Freeway is closed for major construction in the area past the 118 Freeway. The on-ramp is used by CalTrans to gain access to a closed construction area.

The vehicle drove through multiple road closure signs and passed by barricades before crashing into a parked tractor.

Los Angeles Fire Department responded and extricated the male driver from the compact sedan in under ten minutes. He was transported to a local area hospital in stable but serious condition due to a major leg wound.

CHP Altadena officers responded and are handling the investigation. No CalTrans workers were injured in the collision.

Alcohol is a possible factor, but has not been confirmed by CHP.
