Duarte, Los Angeles County, CA: A high speed pursuit terminated in a vehicle collision at the 210 Freeway Eastbound 605 transition road at approximately 1:25 a.m. Friday, June 10, in the city of Duarte.

California Highway Patrol was in pursuit of a vehicle which San Bernardino Sheriff’s deputies began pursuing approximately one hour prior to the crash. According to CHP, the driver was suspected of driving under the influence.
CHP reported the pursuit was taken over from the Sheriff’s deputies by Baldwin Park CHP on the Northbound 605 at Ramona Boulevard. The driver continued to ignore the unit’s lights and sirens, accelerating away at speeds in excess of 100 mph.
Just before 1:30 a.m., due the suspect’s erratic turning movements and the vehicle’s unsafe speed, the driver collided into the guardrail of the transition road, Eastbound 210 to the Southbound 605 Freeway, according to CHP.
The force of the collision caused the Honda Pilot vehicle to overturn and roll down the embankment, ejecting the driver, and coming to rest on the mainline of the Eastbound 210 Freeway.
Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and transported the driver by Care Ambulance to Pomona Valley Hospital with major injuries after he was taken into custody, according to CHP.
CHP said that due to the driver’s injuries, he was released to the care of the hospital. Charges of felony evading, Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and blood alcohol level (B.A.C) over 0.08% will be filed at a later date.
CHP has identified the driver as Robin Antonio Luna, 46, of Rialto, California.
