Brush Fire Burns Near Grapevine on 5 Freeway

Kern County, CA: Kern County Fire Department responded to a brush fire on the 5 Freeway just past Grapevine. When units arrived at the location, they found a large fire just north of a fire that previously burned a couple of hours earlier. An unknown amount of acreage has burned since 5 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022.

There are three fires burning next to each other within a mile path. Firefighters plan to employ burn operations to connect the fire in an attempt to extinguish the flames.

No air support was seen flying during the night when Key News Network reported on the fire at 2:30 a.m.

Kern County Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
