Bakersfield, Kern County, CA: Three people were shot Monday night in the city of Bakersfield during an apparent Fourth of July gathering, leaving one fatally wounded.

The shooting occurred around 11:07 p.m. on Martin Luther King Boulevard and 10th Street. The wounded victims were transported by private vehicles to Kern Medical.

A Bakersfield Police Sergeant at the scene was able to confirm three victims of gunshot wounds – one fatal, one moderate, and one with minor injuries.

The Bakersfield Police Crime Scene Unit vehicle was observed at the scene with authorities investigating evidence and marking bullet casings on the ground at the location. A scooter was seen loaded into the unit’s vehicle at one point during the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
